Apple is known for its latest innovations and frequent updates. On Tuesday, March 31, it released its latest update, iOS 18.4.1. Many users were waiting for the next major update, which is 19.5, but till now, Apple has not said anything about this major release.

Two weeks ago, the 18.4 release had plenty of new features and fixes, but it came with some errors that were bothering the users; therefore, Apple gave another small update just a short time later. Through this, the issues have been resolved using the real-time solutions, and now, Apple users are good with the update.

Which iPhones Can Run iOS 18.4.1?

The first question is whether the updates are only for certain devices or for everyone, and the answer is that the iPhone’s iOS 18 update has been released for all users with iPhones released after 2018. What has Apple Provided in 18.4.1?

The new update does not bring a lot of new features, but being a minor update, it shows bug fixes and some little interesting features that the users were expecting. In 18.4, there were some flaws, and the current update fixes two of them:

  • iPhone Core Audio
  •  RPAC

The first flaw is tracked by CVE-2025-31200, and the Apple and Google Threat Analysis Group had reported it. The audio stream processing in the maliciously crafted media file was the main issue, and Apple notified every user to get the 18.4.1 update as soon as they could.

The iPhone makers say:

Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS

Similarly, RPAC was tracked by CVE-2025-31201 in the report of the Apple company. This issue was serious and could allow the attackers to gain arbitrary read and write capability so as to bypass the pointer authentication.

The company was worried about the situation because this weakness of the system can lead to powerful errors or maybe allow extremely sophisticated attacks.

The users may not notice or see the issues, but the 18.4 has multiple flaws in it, and the system patched 62 vulnerabilities with the update. This highlights the rapid release of the new update and the awareness of getting the update in the system.

The company feels that the issue may not be directly tied to the technical issues but a way for the spyware. The cybersecurity expert Paul Ducklin wrote in his post on X:

I exaggerate for effect, but update your iPhone anyway — double zero-day used in spyware attack. A rogue audio file could pwn Apple iOS. Also applies to the rest of the Apple ecosystem

The spyware updates are critical because they can target every device of the company, and removing them from the system is a headache. These flaws can attack even the safe and encrypted apps such as WhatsApp and can affect the audio-video calling, signals, chats, and much more.

Still, iPhones are safe devices because the company works for security and advancement. The rapid update against the security measures is proof of how the company cares about its system and the user’s security. Hence, it is critical to get the iOS 18.4.1 update and make your phone safe.
