Zoom, the global video conference platform, has faced a large outage affecting thousands of people in offices, educational institutes, and other places, but now the issue is resolved. Zoom is one of the most powerful tools for video conferencing, and companies rely on it for meetings, so its outage was a big issue around the globe.
Before this, the users of other apps like Spotify faced the outage issue, and that has affected the daily routine of several users, but this time, the outage issue is with Zoom, a more useful app that is an important part of the professional sector.
About the Zoom Outage and How it has Affected Us
On Wednesday, April 16, thousands of users tried to get the Zoom services for video conferencing, but the app was stuck at a point showing the status of “partial outage.” In this digital era, the whole world relies on the internet for daily routine work, and the most comfortable and advanced communication way is video conferencing.
Zoom has been used for remote workers as well as for companies dealing with global clients relying on video calls, either the simpler ones or conference calls, for making things clear, as all the people are sitting in the same room.
During COVID, Zoom has been extensively used for online classes, business meetings, family gatherings, and official tasks. This was the time when Zoom made the system more powerful and presented advanced features like conference call handling of a great number of people in one call.

All these points are enough to justify the need for a Zoom conference call in daily life and how its outage has affected the routine.
Zoom Outage and Downdetector
As soon as the professionals started facing the outage issue, they tried it multiple times, and then to check the problem, they checked the status of the Zoom app on Downdetector, a platform to check the outage issues.
There, 67,280 Zoom users reported the outage issue, which confirmed that it is not their only problem but a global issue. Most of the interruption reports were from the United States, but the issue was spread around the world.
On Downdetector, the peak hours recorded were 2:25 p.m. ET and 4:12 p.m. ET. According to the resources, the main issue behind the outage was the domain error. The zoom.us domain is registered on GoDaddy” domain services. The server was blocked for some time, and the communication between the Zoom domain registrar, MarkMonitor, and GoDaddy Registry was not complete.

Zoom quickly acknowledged the issue on their official page and shared the following message:
We continue to investigate the domain name resolution issues on the zoom.us domain that are affecting multiple services. More updates to follow.
In every app and website, there must be a system to check the technical issues and to predict the potential problems, as Zoom has faced. The most advanced and efficient way to do so is to use artificial intelligence in the system. At Weborik Hub, clients are getting the solutions to their problems using AI to resolve issues like this or to add new features that work seamlessly.
Zoom is Back after Outage
As soon as the issue was reported, Zoom started investigating the issue and found the server blocked by GoDaddy. Hence, to resolve the issue, Zoom, MarkMonitor, and GoDaddy took a step together and instantly removed the block. During the outage, there was no security or network failure from the Zoom side, and the other two partners, MarkMonitor and GoDaddy, have made sure that the issue does not happen again.
Although no serious issues have been reported on social media or other platforms, hundreds of scheduled meetings were delayed because of this minor technical problem. The companies performed their role to make things clear.
