How AI is Helping in Amniotic Fluid Embolism
Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a bit rare but a dangerous situation that occurs during pregnancy or just after childbirth and can be life-threatening. The difficulty with AFE is that it is complicated to diagnose at the initial level because the symptoms are similar to those of other serious pregnancy issues. The exact cause of this situation is unknown, and no one can say the exact reason.
Nurse and influencer Hailey Marie Okula is known for the IVF and her pregnancy on the social media platform. She passed away during her first childbirth, and amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is said to be the reason behind her death.
Her husband, Methew Okula, shared the news about his wife’s death and shared the reason: “Complication from childbirth”. He said,
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the devastating news of the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, Hailey Marie Okula, due to complications from childbirth
Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) Introduction
Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare and uncomplicated situation that occurs during pregnancy in which the amniotic fluid gets into the woman’s bloodstream. This can happen during or just after childbirth. This is a dangerous situation and difficult to handle during childbirth, creating complications, and the cause is unknown.
The amniotic fluid is a liquid surrounding the fetus in a woman’s uterus. Most of this fluid is water, but it contains a certain amount of fetal cells and tissues. This situation can affect the lungs and cause heart failure with a shortage of oxygenated blood in the body.
Mostly, the situation results in heart disease, like a heart attack, or the lungs stop working. Moreover, during the C-section or pregnancy, the woman bleeds uncontrollably because of this issue, and this can cause death.
Fortunately, this is a rare condition and can occur in one woman in 40000 deliveries in the United States. On the other hand, in Europe, the numbers are 1 in 53,800. Although there are no particular symptoms for the situation, it is mostly placental abruption, eclampsia, or uterine rupture.

Throughout these two years, she had been sharing her feelings and moments with her 425,000 Instagram followers. Matthew shared in the conversation with the Fox that during the operation, Hailey had a cardiac arrest and how badly she wanted to be a mother.
He shared the news of his first child being born; he got a son, and he had mixed feelings of happiness and sorrow. During the interview, he said,
A minute later, the doctor lets me know that they’re doing CPR on her. I’m making the decision, ‘Am I going to the ICU to be with my wife or am I staying with my newborn little baby?
How AI is Helping in Amniotic Fluid Embolism
AI is helping in every field, particularly in medical and digital solutions. Just like AI is helping the Weborik Hub customers to get the most efficient performance and secure working, it helps in the medical industry to predict diseases and issues like AFE before they happen. As there is no particular symptom, dealing with such a situation is tough; having the AI or machine learning algorithms to analyze every symptom in pregnancy is critical.
