Yesterday, on May 6, National Nurses Week started, and this year, American Nurses Enterprise announced the theme, which is entitled “The Power of Nurses.” The week is going to place the spotlight on the role of the nurses behind the compassionate care and the transformation of the healthcare facilities through innovations.
The organization, American Nurses Enterprise, encompasses the following:
- American Nurses Association (ANA)
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- American Nurses Foundation (ANF)
In America, the organization is working as a force behind the nurses’ work and to facilitate them with the innovative equipment, getting their rights, and setting the boundaries of their work.
The Chief Executive Officer of American Nurses Enterprise, Angela Beddoe, says,
I am very grateful for the incredible work nurses do every single day.
She also posted the statement:
They are the backbone of our healthcare system and consistently rank as the most trusted professionals in the country — and for good reason. That’s why National Nurses Week is so significant. It gives us all a moment to pause, reflect, and express heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary contributions nurses make in every community.
Why is International Nurses Day on These Dates?
International Nurses Day is always celebrated from May 6 to 12 as a tribute to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Her birthday is on May 12, and in this way, the tribute starts on May 6 and ends on Florence’s birthday.
She became the ultimate nursing figure in the 1850s when she played a remarkable role in the Crimean War. She stayed in a hospital with a group of nurses taking care of the British soldiers. Before she joined the hospital, the situation of the medical facilities was not fine.
Soon, Florence imposed the strict standards of cleanliness and medical equipment and worked hard to make sure that every ward was stocked with medicines and food. She was the one who recognized the need for innovative devices in the hospitals.
The innovations are the key to dealing with modern medical issues, and one of the most demanding techniques in this regard is artificial intelligence. Not only in the medical industry, but the same technique is touching the horizons in every field, particularly in the web solution, where experts like Weborik Hub are making the websites and apps flawless in working, efficient, and loaded with the latest features.
Local Nurse Helps Colleague by Donating Her Car
An incident of a nurse helping the other is helpful here to highlight the role of kindness and care for others by a nurse. A patient care technician (PCT), Trainet Kauffman, was left without any transport facility because she lent her car to a person in need.
After some time, the car was totaled, so she had no option but to walk to work or rely on her family for a pick-up and drop-off. Her son has been facing medical issues since his birth; therefore, she had to reach out to the medical center urgently when needed.
On this, she says,
It was hard enough getting to work. But the hardest part was not having a reliable way to get my son to the doctor. That’s what matters most.
Her colleague, Kirsten Uveges, was a registered nurse working in the progressive unit who came by herself in the matter and offered her car to Kauffman as help.
She gave me the car. No strings attached. Just kindness. It was such a blessing.
The nurse and her husband decided to help Kauffman in her hard phase, and they helped her to follow her duty and to take care of her son.
