- Is Nest Thermostat Using the AI
On April 25, Google officially announced that it will end the software update for its first and second generation Nest Thermostat this year. The 1st gen thermostats were introduced in 2011, whereas the 2nd generation was introduced in 2012.
According to the blog, released on Friday, the support is going to be disabled and will lose all support in October 2025, and other regions will get compensation from the company, but not Europe. The news also states that Google is not going to release any other model for the European region.
The decision is affecting the European Nest Learning Thermostat announced in 2014. They said in the blog post:
You will no longer be able to control them remotely from your phone or with
Google Assistant, but can still adjust the temperature and modify schedules directly on the thermostat
Google Announces 1st and 2nd gen Nest Thermostats will Lose Support
The Google Nest Thermostat is a smart, WiFi-enabled thermostat device that can be programmed according to the user’s requirements and is designed to optimize the heating and cooling of the environment for better living conditions.

Now, the company is ending its first and second generation models, and this is particularly for Europe because the region has a “unique” requirement. In 2024, it launched its fourth thermostat model redesign. In Europe, the weather conditions and other environmental factors are different, so Google had to change its policies.
Google Says,
Heating systems in Europe are unique and have a variety of hardware and software requirements that make it challenging to build for the diverse set of homes. Therefore, moving forward, we’ll no longer launch new Nest thermostats in Europe.
The decision is only taken for the 1st and 2nd generation Nest Thermostats, and other models that are 3rd and 4th generations will get the security updates and other features.
After October 25, 2025, there will be no updates for the Nest Thermostats, and the user will not be able to connect them with the Google Cloud. However, the users are going to enjoy their programmed devices and set the thermostat conditions and modes according to their needs.

Is Nest Thermostat Using the AI
Google has been integrating AI into its devices and products, and the Nest Thermostat is no exception. The models and generations we have been discussing till now do not have much role in AI, but the fourth-generation Nest Thermostat is using artificial intelligence to learn about the user’s preferences and understand their needs at the time.
Artificial intelligence is making the systems better and adding features that no other technology can handle. Weborik Hub is a technical company working on integrating artificial intelligence into web solutions, making them more efficient and user-friendly to generate more revenue and impress users.
In Nest Thermostat, the AI helps the device to understand the user’s routine, preferences, and needs, and the environmental changes, and work accordingly.
For the compensation of the current decision, Google is making the changes in the cost chart of its thermostats. All these models will be present at a more economical price, and the users will get these devices with the limited features that they are getting nowadays.
